Notes
I started nymphing at the mouth of the river and worked my way up past the bridge. I had lots of fish on but landed very few. I snagged 3 suckers and landed 1, about 18-20" in length. I did have 3 rainbows on that were > 15" but landed zero of them. I was having issues with losing flies because I was using 5x flourocarbon and it was snapping off. Frustrating. Karl showed up around 5:30pm and I switched over to dry flies - a #14 Royal Trude with varying droppers including a #16 Gray Emergent Sparkle Pupa and a #16 Yellow Humpy. The Trude got lots of splashes, including some from some 12"+ fish, but they were more splashes instead of hits.
Around 7:30 we moved up to the pool at the dam and I had a 12-14" rainbow on the trude but it got off. That's the only hit I had. The fish were rising very inconsistently.
