Notes
Fished the run between the abandoned bridge and the 422 bridge. Flow was slightly stained @3:00, and became increasingly more stained. Flow was muddy at 6:30 - 7:00.
Hooked and lost 1 10" Smallmouth on a #10 copper john. Missed a strike on a #4 Hoschlag Hackle Fly Olive - nice smallmouth almost jumped clear of the water , chasing the fly on the swing. Almost certianly missed 2-3 other strikes and conhead WBs of various colors.
After it got dark, and water became muddy; I tied on a 4# White Crystal Bugger. . Short time after HOOKED AND LANDED MY STREAMER SMALLMOUTH. It was about 10-11" and fought HARD. could not take a picture of it as it got to dark to see at that point.
Became more comfortable with the oval cast to throw heavy flies, and learned how to cast today, across and slightly up) to get flies down and get tight, and to sometimes begin the swing a little early.
