Notes
I tried my hand at steelheading up at Barber Park. I got there shortly after dawn and focused on nymphing the first bend down from where people put their rafts in. I nymphed all morning and caught nothing. Several fishermen showed up across the river from me and none of them caught anything.
Around 11am I walked dowstream a ways and found a slow bend in the river where a pod of 8"-12" fish were rising to midges. I tied on a Griffith's Gnat with a black Parachute Midge Emerger dropper and caught 3 fish on the dropper while losing a couple others. They weren't too big, especially on the 8 weight. :) Still good to catch a few fish after getting seiously shut out all morning.

9" trout is not exactly a steelhead. I have not heard how people are doing up there this fall.
