Notes

MCB, TMM, & BD:

I checked the stream levels early this morning and found the LJ was still a bit higher than I like it, but I figured if they are calling for rain tonight, tomorrow, and Wednesday, I better fish it today. I thought I would fish above Spruce because it's a little easier to wade above Spruce, so I fished the junk yard section. The LJ was about as high as I would want it to be and still be able to fish it. It was also running fast and it was a little hard for me to wade and tough to run the spinner as slow as I would like to run it. It's good that I know all the places that the water is high and can basically get around those spots, but three hours of wading against today's current wore me out again, just like wading the lower section of Spring wore me out.

I caught 18 trout, all brown, all wild or at least I think they were all wild. I caught 5 or 6 that were only 6- 7 inches long. They may be some of the fingerlings that they stocked in May, who knows? The biggest fish was a nice 15 inch brown that I caught by fishing up one of the side sections. I caught it right were a little trib enters that left side section of the LJ. Most of the other fish I caught this morning were in the 9-10 inch range with a few nice 12-13-14 inch fish. I fished up to the quarry but that took me about three hours, so I got out and walked back the path on the right hand side of the stream. All in all, not a bad day.
