Notes
MCB, TMM, & BD:
I checked the water levels of the LJ early this morning and decided it was still a bit high and fast for me to wade it. Then I checked Spring and of course it was well within my spin fishing levels, so I headed off to Spring for the second time this week. However, it was like fishing two different streams because I fished a section of Spring that I have never fished before. I drove over to Milesburg and parked at their very nice community park and then walked down to the mouth of Spring where it joins the Bald Eagle. Then I fished upstream for three hours and walked along the RR track back to my truck and ate lunch at the neat community park.
Spring is a big stream in this section. It's about the size of the LJ and this morning it was fairly high and fast, so wading it was a bit difficult and wore my little self out. I thought I had a good morning for fishing a section of stream that was new to me. I caught 17 trout, all browns. The smallest trout I caught this morning was 10 inches and I think I only caught a couple that were that small. The biggest trout I caught was 14 inches and I caught only two of those. The rest of the fish this morning were nice fat trout that were 11, 12, & 13 inches long. I didn't catch any monster trout like I did on Spruce, but these were all nice trout. Wild, colorful, and hefty trout.
There were no other fishermen on this section of Spring this morning, but that may have something to due with the fact that the water was still a bit cloudy for fly-guys. I really don't know how much pressure this section of Spring gets. I did see a number of places along the RR side that had paths leading down to the stream, so there are people fishing it, but just not this morning. It was another nice day on the streams of central PA. I should mention that I pulled the wrong hat off the rack this morning when I left and I never noticed I had the wrong hat until I got back home at lunch time. That's not a big deal, except for the fact that my license is on my hat and so I fished without any license this morning. I think I'm done fishing for this week.
