Notes
MCB, TMM, & BD:
I finally got in a morning of fishin on the LJ. I drove over to the section between the two RR bridges directly below the Greer school. That section doesn't get as much pressure as a lot of the other sections of the LJ because both sides of the stream are posted and the access road is really shitty. My truck has a high clearance and skid plates, so if I go slow I can manage the access road that Norfolk Southern uses to check on the two RR bridges. I drove to the end of the access road at the upper RR bridge, walked back to below the lower RR bridge and fished back to above the second RR bridge closed to the Greer School.
The fishing was good this morning and it was particulary good directly above and below each of the RR bridges. I caught 28 fish, 24 brown trout, 1 rainbow trout, and 3 smallmouth bass.
The browns were all nice, wild colorful fish and I started with 6 or 8 of them that were 8-9-10 inches in length and then finished with a number of nice browns in the 11-12-13 inch size range. The biggest brown was 13 inches. The only rainbow I caught, was also the only stocked fish that I caught this morning, and was also the biggest fish I caught at 14 inches. Two of the three bass I caught were just little fellows about 6-7 inches in length, but the last bass I caught was 10 inches in length, which is the biggest bass that I have caught so far this year.
The nicest thing about this morning was I didn't see one other person on the section I fished. That doesn't happen very often on the LJ. Something was hatching and I expected the fly-guys to arrive before I finished fishing, but I did quit about 10:45, so they may have shown up later today. Diane and I are making two, not one, two trips to York this week. One tomorrow and one on Saturday, so if I want to do any more fishing, it will have to be Friday.
