Notes

MCB, TMM, & BD:

They stocked Standing Stone this week and it was high, fast, and muddy when they stocked it and was still pretty much that way this morning, although it wasn't at a bad level for spin fishing. I figured that the stocking truck followers wouldn't have gotten all the fish this week because of the weather and water conditions and I was right.

I put on my gear walked down to the creek right below my shale bank and fished upstream until I got the fording. It took me three hours and I was tired because the current was strong enough to make it a bit difficult to wade. I had one of my better trout fishing days on the Stone this morning. I caught 15 trout, all stocked, 11 browns and 4 rainbows. They were all pretty much the standard stocked size of 11 inches with three exceptions. Two of the browns were only 8 or 9 inches and one brown was a nice 14 incher.

The good thing about this mornings fishing is that I didn't have to use a drop of gasoline and I got a fair amount of exercise wading against the current and walking back to the house. It was a nice morning for a little fishing, but I still would have liked to fish the LJ, but it was too high and fast.
