Notes

MCB, TMM, & BD:

I figured this morning might be the last fairly warm morning for at least the next four or five days, so I headed out to give Spruce a try. There wasn't anyone there when I got to the parking area, but then I was there about the time the sun was coming up, so I guess it wasn't a big surprise that I was the first guy at Spruce. When I got to the upper section of the stream there were three, not one, not two, but three fly-guys pissing around in all the good spots in the upper part of the PSU section, so that limited my Spruce fishing a bit.

The water is still fairly cold, but has warmed the last week or so and Spruce was at a nice level for spin fishing this morning. It wasn't a bad morning for fishing, just a bad morning for catching anything. I only caught three trout and I may only have had about another three hits in the space of two hours or so of fishing. I caught two brownies, one 10 inches and one 12 inches, but I did catch one of the Spruce big guys. The second fish I caught this morning was one of Donny's boys, a nice plump 18 inch rainbow trout. So the morning wasn't a total waste of time!

I had enough clothes on this morning to keep warm, but of course my hands were a bit cold when I started, but it got better as I was finishing up the morning. Who knows, if I could have fished the upper section I may have caught at least a couple of more trout. I almost always catch two or three trout in that upper section of Spruce. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
