Notes
I caught a small brown just 10 minutes in, but that ended up being the only fish to hand. I had a follow from a big brown a little later, as I was lifting my flies up to cast again.
I found a little deeper, bouldery stretch downstream of where I parked and ended up sight fishing to several rainbows. I hooked none of them but I do think I missed some subtle takes. I cycled through lots of small and medium sized flies.
Just before I stopped fishing, I walked downstream to the next riffle and found a nice rainbow sitting in shallow water next to the riffle. I changed flies back to a #20 olive quilldigon and cut off the dropper, so very lightly weighted. On about the fifth cast I hooked the fish and played it for about a minute before it got off. At least I finally hooked a nice fish.
I saw some small caddis flying about. I'm not sure if they were actively hatching though.
