Notes

So my parents bought me a new Sage Z-axis fly-rod for my birthday. It's a beauty and a real pleasure to cast, so my plan was to take it with me on our trip to Twin Lakes in Washington and try it out.

I went on the same trip last year during the same time, and like last year the trout fishing was horrible. In fact, I only got a couple of hits all week, but I didn't really put that much effort into it after the first couple days of nothing. My finder was indicating fish in depths of 30', right on the bottom. For whatever reason, perhaps the hot weather, the trout seemed to be off the bite completely. I don't know if my sinking line can reach depths of 30', but none of the boaters were catching anything either. No one was trolling for trout which is very unusual. The people who did manage to catch a couple were bottom fishing with powerbait, and even they would fish almost all day for just 1 or 2 fish.

So most of the time, I resorted to bass fishing with plastic worms out in the boat with dad and Shiraz. I also caught a few in the evenings on buzz baits which is pretty fun. Bass fishing wasn't as good as it was last year and the size was pretty consistent, no real lunkers to speak of.

The totals here represent the entire trip even though I've listed it under just one day.
