Notes

Fished the Bushkill Creek in Easton PA for the first time and with a new buddy Kevin. We both started out euro nymphing. We found and covered a lot of good holding water. First near about the middle of the 1.17 mile special regulations area, near the condos on Bushkill drive. It was a relatively cold and windy day, and the fishing was slow. We first fished riffles and some deeper pools above the bridge and slowly worked our way downstream. Kevin eventually switched to a streamer setup below the bridge to work another deep and long pool. I decided to switch to a suspension indication rig on my 905 Douglas dxf. I tried several different patterns, on a tandem rig. With no success using mayfly patterns and midges, I tied on a size 14 squirmy wormy in pink. This is sort of a last resort fly for me. I ran it through the deep pool that kevin had been working with a streamer and hooked up with a fat 15 inch rainbow. It took the fly towards the end of the drift. It was a beautifully colored fish that made a great run and leap straight into the air. After this one fish we had no more hits so we decided to finish the day downstream by the bridge on 13th Street. Found lots of great holding water again, however we had no luck. Very nice looking cut and and drop off just downstream of the bridge. Kevin was euro nymphing and I was suspension indication nymphing. Called it a day around 445 pm or so. Looking forward to fishing this stream again. Only saw one other angler all day, a spin fisherman.
