Notes
Karl and I float tubed OsLa#3 and did decent but not great. It was cool in the float tubes, we could spot a school of gold trout cruising around. They were skittish to the fly line landing over them, so some care had to be made to cast well in front of them. I had a decent evening, landing 7 and getting 10 or so other hits.
The most memorable hit was on a glass bead scud I had tied for the trip. I made just one of the flies and on my first cast and retrieve with it, I got an impressively jarring strike that snapped the 4x tippet instantly. I tried a couple other scud patterns I had but none matched the size or color of the original.
I had my best luck during the night with a medium-speed hand-twist retrieve.
