Notes

Back to the same spot Lisa & I fished the day before. A little cooler temp today and some blustery wind. Again, no one there but me.
Not as productive in that honey hole Lisa fished. Did take 2-3 out of there. Fished mostly up from that. Great production at the second/third (?) campsite up from convergence. By that time, it was getting into the late afternoon and the topwater started turning on. Got a lot of hits on the Chubby and brought in a nice 15 inch bow.
Missed a lot of fish that day - missed takes, break-offs, and a few that threw the fly during jumps. Probably lost/missed ~ 10 for those reasons.
The top hits were fast and violent, no sippers that day.
The size and styling of the dropper was irrelevant - #12 to #14, gold bead vs black, leggy vs non, perfect wing case or just contrasted dub near hook eye - didn't seem to matter. One thing I think they did cue on was the lighter color and sparkle, whether it was flashbacked or bright ribbing.
Have really enjoyed fishing this area, but have really avoided the area over the last few years in favor of the upper MF and the eagerness of the fish up there. However, I do think this recent great fishing in this area is reflective of the high(er) flows and fish eagerly coming up from the reservoir. The smaller fish and lower #'s this time out may be the end of these great conditions.
They like them flashy and buggy on the MF!
