Notes
I started at a run just downstream of the SE 4.0 trail marker, nymphing with a california leech and a hare's ear dropper. I had no luck, so I went upstream and waded across to fish the other side of the run. No luck nymphing, but I was seeing occasional fish splash the surface. I cut the hare's ear off and made some casts and retrieves, and had a couple small hits.
The fish were still rising so I switched to a cdc thorax bwo and missed several fish initially before landing a nice 12" rainbow. A couple casts later and I had a 16" rainbow on before I lost him and the fly when he made a run.
I didn't have any luck for awhile after that so I switched to the striving dun and landed another 12" and had a few other hits. Things started tapering off so I went downstream to the SE 3.8 marker and nymphed a nice run. I had two rainbows on within a couple casts but both got off, including one with my green rockworm fly. A few minutes later I hooked into a NICE fish, and if it was a rainbow it would have been 18"-20". I played him for several minutes before he finally shook the fly free. :(
All in all a fun day and I had 10-15 fish on, easy, so it was frustrating to only land 2. But to have a 16" rainbow and possibly another 18-20" rainbow was fun.
