Notes

MCB, TMM, & BD:

I fished the junk yard section of the LJ this morning and had a fairly good morning. I caught 21 trout in a little less than three hours. It was a really nice morning, although it was a little chilly early and my hands got cold. Doesn't seem to be much that I can do about that, so I just keep on fishing. The trout I caught went from two five inch mini-trout to four 13 inch trout and everything in between. The majority of the fish I caught this morning fell into the 10-12 inch range. Of course the LJ was low, slow, and clear, but when it's like that it's easy to wade. I like the junk yard section because most of the fly guys only fish the two ends of the section and don't fish the middle parts very often. I didn't see anyone else in that section this morning until I got close to the quarry and then a fly-guy was fishing by the first RR bridge below the quarry. I was about ready to quit fishing, so I did and walked back to my truck.

I drove downstream to Spruce Creek and checked out the different parking pull-offs. This was about 11:00 and the stream was filled with fly-guys. The pull-off at the old yellow house at the beginning of the loop section had four vehicles parked in it when I went by. There were guys in almost every hole back to the church at Spruce Creek. The LJ has gotten too much public attention and now has a lot more pressure than it did just a few years ago.

It's supposed to be a warm morning tomorrow, so maybe I'll fish Spring, even though it's almost too low to run your spinner in. I guess I'll just fish the deeper spots and at least the fish will be concentrated in those areas.
