Notes

MCB, TMM, & BD:

Before I went to bed last night I checked the water levels and figured this morning would be a good time to fish the LJ. It rained about an inch and a half here over the weekend and the water levels were up a bit and the water was a bit cloudy. It was a really nice morning for fishing the LJ, warm, calm, and all around nice.

I fished from the first quarry up to past the first RR bridge above the quarry. I had a good morning and caught 31 fish in a little over three hours. I caught 30 brown trout and one little smallmouth bass. The water level of the LJ was the highest it has been for at least a month, maybe longer. It still was only at 2.0 ft. on the Spruce creek gauge, but that's higher than it has been for a while. I could run my spinner through some of the more shallow areas this morning and so that's probably why I caught some mini-trout this morning. I haven't caught many little trout this summer, but this morning I caught 8 or 9 that were in the 6-8 inch range. Most of the rest of the trout I caught were nice trout that were 11-13 inches. The biggest trout of the morning was only a 14 incher. I did have a big fellow on the line, but he snapped my line and I lost him and my spinner. As usual I was fishing with my drag off and that normally works well for me, but you run the risk of snapping the line if you hook a big one. Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes.

Tomorrow we are heading for York to visit both of our fathers and on Thursday we are leaving for Oil City to spend a couple of days with Jodie and the boys. They have a vacation day on Friday and there is some sort of festival in the Oil City area, so we will be there until Saturday. So I guess my fishing is probably finished for this week.
