Notes

MCB, TMM, & BD:

I decided to fish Spring Creek this morning, even though I knew it would be low, slow, clear, and hard to spin fish. I parked at the Benner Springs Hatchery and walked downstream for about 30 minutes and then fished back to my truck. I was the only vehicle there this morning at 7:00, but there were three other vehicles there when I got back to the truck about 10:45 or so.

It was tough to find enough water to run the spinner in, but I still had a fairly good morning. I caught 15 brown trout including a 16, 15, and 14 inch brownie. The rest were in the 10-13 inch range. When I got back to my truck there two guys from West Virginia putting on their gear. They told me they drove up from WV this morning, were going to fish until dark, and then drive back to WV tonight. I asked why they would do all that driving just to do a little fishing and they said the streams in West Virginia were even lower than the streams in PA and of course they have always liked Spring creek and fish it failry often. They also told me that someone told them they could fish the prison land and they were going to give it a try. I told them that I know a lot of people have been fishing the prison land, but that I don't think it's been ofically opened for everyone to fish.

If I fish again this week, I'll probably head back to the LJ, even though it's low, it still has four or five times as much water in it as Spring does. I would like to fish Spruce, but I'm sure it's so low that it would be tough fishing.
