Notes

Beautiful river, long drive. Came in thru Lick Creek - wow - scenic but rough. Think MFB x 5 with a field of basketballs planted every 1/4 mile. Went home thru Yellowpine/Cascade - longer but easier on the spine. BTW - beware the washouts of the road as approach YP!

The river is relatively wide, mostly shallow and fast. Lots of brooks - like Bear Valley - more of a nusiance after the first 6 or so. But, like everything this time of year, they're not shy.

Never got much out of pools, got the larger rainbows in the churns btwn boulders or ledges. Not much beach or access to the river. You basically rock-hop like a goat moving up the river.
Hit a lull about 4-5 pm - not sure whether it was me, the fliy selection, or a specific section of river. Suddenly couldn't buy a brookie. And just a quick - turned on again.

Worth the trip but start early.
