Notes
The closer it got to dusk, the more caddis I saw swarming over the river. I tried seining for a few minutes in the top part of the water and didn't find any caddis pupal shucks, so I'm not sure the caddis are emerging or if they're mating over the water. I did see a couple mega swarms over the water where there were several hundred caddis in a couple cubic feet.
I caught my first two fish on the emergent sparkle pupa but then lost that in a tree. That was my last one. I was able to catch an 8" brown and a 9" rainbow on the elk hair. I didn't see any decent fish rise all evening. The dinks were rising okay in a couple slower spots.
