Notes

MCB, TMM, & BD:

I finally managed to get a little fishing in this morning. It was a beautiful morning to be out and on the stream. The LJ was low, slow, and crystal clear. It was a good day for wading the LJ, but not a great day for catching fish on the LJ. I didn't even manage to hit double digets this morning. I only caught 9 brownies, but at least they were fairly nice sized fish. The biggest trout were two 14 inch trout and the smallest was a 10 inch trout. The other four fish were in between those two extremes. I did hook a big trout under the first RR bridge, but he managed to snap off my line, so I lost him. You'll have days like this. When the water is so low and so clear, it's tough to fool the trout with a spinner, or at least that's my story, and I'm sticking to it. It was a bit chilly when I started this morning. I was thinking maybe I made a mistake wearing shorts, but once I put on the waders it was fine. My hands were cold for the first hour or so, but since I lost 30 pounds, my hands are always cold. The water temperature this morning was 62 degrees, which is a good temperature for trout. I'm not sure if I'll get out again this week, but it really doesn't matter much because the streams are so low. They are calling for rain Thursday evening into Friday and I hope we get it, because we sure need it. By the way the leaves were already starting to fall and float downstream in the LJ.
