Notes

A few days ago, weather.com said the forecast for Boise for the weekend was: 78F, sunny, and breezy for Saturday, and 75F, partly cloudy, and calm Sunday. I figured I'd fish on Sunday because of the wind. Ha! It was raining when I left Boise and rained for most of the way up to Little Camas Reservoir. I drove around Little Camas for a bit but it was real cold, sprinkling, and blowing pretty hard, so I decided to head on to Mormon to check it out. Huh, same thing when I got there. I sat in the car eating my lunch for 20 minutes trying to decide if I wanted to expend the effort to assemble the pontoon boat and fight the winds. I finally decided to try fishing. Huh. I trolled for the better part of the 3 hours I fished and never came close to getting a hit. I did find a small little cove that had a 10-15' high hill on one side of it blocking the wind, and there were some little fish (not sure what kind) rising to midges buzzing along the surface. I switched to my 3wt with a Griffiths Gnat and a zebra mideling dropper and had nothing close to anything. I took the midgeling off and tried skating the GG across the surface to mimic the naturals and nothing. Not the trip I was hoping for. It was quite cold.

On the drive home I did see 3 hawks perched on telephone poles. By far the highlight of the day.
