Notes
Caught over two-day period while camping on opposite site of river (accessed by bridge just above reservoir). Not the best fishing site but great for camping. Family thing - wife and kids.
The weather was hot and the water would cloud-up mid-morning to mid-afternoon then clear - likely from the rains earlier in the week. Funny thing, it happened all three days - clear in the AM/PM, murky in the afternoon ... Lots of mosquitos.
Tried nymphs earlier in the day (Stones, Copper John's, Hare's ear). Wife caught 2 bulls on the Copper John, I hooked a big bow on Hare's ear but broke off. My son caught a bow on a black Mepps spinner. Most of the best fishing was late afternoon/evening, with the Adams and EHC. Hooked a couple of brooks on Adams early/mid-morning. Caught all in deep runs except brooks along the banks behind boulders. The above numbers are estimates - caught more than listed.
As usual, beautiful MF scenery but alot of rattlers along the river - thankfully no incidents with snakes vs kids or our two Labs. The rattlers were pretty vocal in their warnings.
As an aside - one of the best camping locations we've run across yet. Private, right on river, away from road, scattering of trees, plenty of room for kids and dogs to run with worrying about traffic or other campers.
