Notes

USGS flow was 'Ice" but the gage height was ~1.5.
Only caught 2 but I really concentrated on the nymphing. They seemed to like the smaller stuff, both the pheasant tail and the flashback hare's ear. Did get strikes but miss 3-4.
Caught most on the back-drift - when the fly was right behind me and just trailing behind the float in the water. just before the forward cast.
Tried a black wooley bugger with red flash but no luck, tho I didn't try it long.
Saw a few surface hits, one big one, and got a few strikes on the extended tail in pink, but they were little and I wanted to concentrate on nymphs. Lost a lot of flies on snags.
Not as productive as usual but I needed to practice my technique so that was probably a lot of it.
