Notes
MCB, TMM, & BD:
I went to the lower sections of the LJ again this morning. I drove back the little no outlet road to the left, I think it's called Allison Road. I went back about as far as you can drive before it goes into the farm, I suppose it's the Allison farm. Last week I walked downstream from that RR bridge and fished the section with the steep banks and had a really good morning. This morning I started right below the RR bridge and fished upstream from there. I had never fished that section before. I'm fairly sure that it's the section that Bob's fishing guide buddy calls the cornfield section. I was fishing for about 20 minutes and caught two really nice brown trout, one below the RR bridge and one above the RR bridge. The first one was a 15 inch brown and the second trout of the morning was a 16 inch brown. A really good start to what turned out to be a ho-hum day on the LJ. About the time I caught the second trout, about 8:00 AM, the fly-guys started coming in and didn't stop coming the rest of the time I was fishing this morning. Apparently the cornfield section is a really well known section and gets a lot of pressure. I was a little surprised that the fly-guys were there so early, but a couple of them told me they were fishing the "BIG 17 YEAR CICADA HATCH" and they could start early and fish late! That probably explains why there have been so many out of state plates on the LJ this week. It's the internet, don't you know.
I fished until 10:00 and then I was tired of walking around fly-guys. The LJ is a lot easier to access in the cornfield section and guys just kept coming in and getting in the water ahead of me, so I said, piss on it, I'll come back another day. I managed to catch 10 more trout before I quit, but I don't think any of them were more than 10 inches or so. In fact a couple of those were 6 & 7 inch trout. Go figure! Still, I had two really good days and one that was at least a nice day even if I didn't set the world on fire, so I can't complain, or at least not much.
I think the section I fished this morning could be a really nice section to fish and I'll probably come back to it again after the cicada hatch is over and done with.

PS: Bob, if your buddy drives a big white GMC truck or SUV or something with fancy rod racks on the roof and an Orvis guide sticker on it, he was at the cornfield section this morning.
