Notes

I got into a crazy callibaetis hatch and/or spinner fall in a backwater. It lasted about 1/2 hour during which l landed a 16" and an 18" rainbow on the HEAP and a Quigley Cripple. The cripple was actually tied in BWO colors but the fish didn't seem to mind. Of course I lost a couple fish as well.

That afternoon there was a steady 2 hour PMD hatch in the flats with big nymphs once again floating through the current. I had a total of 11 fish on and lost them all, some at the hook set and others after playing them for awhile. My nymph patterns didn't have the crazy success that I expected after having fish on with my first 2 casts last week, but I did get several strikes. I also had a few strikes on a PMD emerger, but it was a pretty bad pattern. The PMDs were big, 14/16. There were also some 16/18 BWO's flying about but I didn't see any actually emerging.
