Notes

MCB, TMM, BD:

Woke up about 5:00 this morning and decided I would rather fish this morning than mow my weeds. However I didn't feel like driving any where to fish, so I just went down to the Stone and fished a section close to my house. I parked the truck at the fording and then walked upstream until I was behind Hern's trailer and fished back to a bit above the truck. I killed my fish/hour record this morning, since I only got about 2.3 fish/hour. My trout per hour was even worse, only 1.3 trout/hour. I caught two stocked browns both about 10 or 11 inches and two stocked rainbows that were in the 11-12 inch range. I caught all four trout in the first hour that I fished and didn't catch another trout after that. I have a feeling that many of the trout that were stocked in the Stone are already gone. It's probably good because the water temperature of the Stone today was 68 degrees and can only go up from there. I also caught one Fall fish that was a nice sized fish of about 11 inches. The highlight of my morning was two smallmouth bass that were beauties. I caught a 14 inch and a 16 inch smallmouth. Both were nice fat fish and were two of the biggest smallmouth bass that I have caught in a couple of years. The 16 incher was about as much fish as I can handle on my ultralight gear. There weren't many fish in the Stone, or at least you couldn't prove it by my results, but there also weren't any other people fishing in this section this morning, so that was a plus. Then I went home and mowed the grass in the heat of the afternoon. I guess I paid for my morning of fishing fun!
