Notes

Headed out on a 20' Sea Ox with 3 other buddies using a newly mounted (used) motor for its maiden trip. Motor ran great after a 20 mile run (whew). Launched a little late but after the 1 hour run we started our first drift around 10:00 AM. Waves were forecasted 2-4 footers. It was more like 2' but eventually laid down to less than a foot by end of day. Beautiful day to be out fishing and the fish were excellent to cooperate. We fished till 5 PM and headed back with over 30 haddock, 20 cod, 20 cusk and 2 hake. Also a small wolfish released. Biggest fish caught on a 16 oz OozzieJig in 265'. That fish weighed in at 22 lbs. Also had a 19 lb cod and cusk. I filleted all the haddock, cod and hake and split them evenly between all of us. Told the others if they wanted the cusk that they could take them home whole, which they did. The cusk skin is like cutting wet leather and does a number on the fillet knife. But they are a very delicious fish. Plus it was getting late and didnt get back to the dock till after dark. Hoping to make a few more trips this year.
