Notes

Remembering catching a couple steelhead 3 years ago at Barber Park in February on a green rockworm nymph, I decided to once again hit Barber Park. This time I brought along a few sculpin imitations as well. I started at the end of the run where I caught the steelhead before and nymphed my way up with a Near Nuff Sculpin and a variety of small dropper nymphs. I caught 2 whitefish with this method on the droppers, but nothing on the sculpin.

After awhile I walked downstream a ways to the concrete diversion dam and fished upstream in the slower water for about 100 yards, casting a conehead rabbit-strip muddler to the banks and moving forward 3 feet or so each cast. I had hoped to maybe stir up a strike from a brown but nothing happened. It was pretty cold so after that I called it a day.

There was a pretty good midge hatch going on during the afternoon. I saw zero rises, though, and talked briefly to another fishermen who hadn't had any luck.
