Notes

Time of day: Early to mid mornings, late afternoons until dark
Hatch: Some cream-colored mayflies, tiny caddis. Not much.

I caught tons of fish but they were all < 10". Over the 6 days I caught maybe 10 fish that were 10" or bigger. The big fish was 13". I caught most of the little ones on the Royal Stimulator (#10, #14, #18). The Royal Trude also worked well. The #16 yellow humpy did decent, the orange mohawk did decent; I had some success nymphing with a bead head GRHE. Caddis larva and pupa imitations did nothing. I had little to no luck with all streamer and deep-nymph patterns.

Bigger fish were caught by Sam by trolling a rooster tail or other lure deep through the pools. He caught probably 10 fish 15" or larger, with a big of 17". It seemed to be a combination of searching a lot of water by trolling, and getting down deep with the lure. I did try going deep with my sinking line but I don't think I was going deep enough. I also never tried a run retrieve, which may have been more effective. Also, I was not able to search as much water through the huge reservoirs as Sam was able to do with trolling.

Karl did all right fly fishing. He caught fewer fish, but did catch several over 12" with a couple 15". He used random flies like the double-beaded golden stone nymph, elk hair caddis, woolly bugger (I believe), and other flies.
