Notes

Derek, Michelle and I arrived around 11:30 and I got on the water sometime around noon. I used only a sinking line and had no luck with trolling small nymphs back to the northern portion of the reservoir with submerged timber. I switched to a mohair leech (brown) and began getting semi-consistent fish. I tried various techniques for retrieve such as the super fast strip, real slow strip, and everything seemed about average. I had my most success simply trolling. I suspect my line was in 5-10' of water. I ended up catching 12 fish but easily had 75 fish on. Not just hits, but I would have the fish on for several seconds before the fish would get off. I tried changing flies to other flies and did okay - I didn't have the same success as the mohair leech. I caught 1 fish on a brown bristle leech, 1 fish on my woven stonefly nymph. The rest I believe were on the mohair. I tried various ways of modifying the hook to increase the strike/catch ratio but not much worked. Derek landed 23 fish, although I don't think he had nearly as much success as I did as far as getting strikes.
