Notes
I stopped by the pond after work and noticed large bass holding over spawning beds. I returned after dinner and began fishing the southern shore. I tried bow-and-arrowing a popper over a holding bass that was chasing bluegills around, but it didn’t attract the bass. I moved to the main southern point and was trying to use a still topwater popper to induce a bass strike but nothing. I switched to a small popper with a pheasant tail dropper and began catching occasional bluegills with a slow retrieve. As it got dark I walked back to the NW corner and fished the shallows there. I saw a couple large bass patrolling the area but couldn’t induce a strike. I caught a couple nice-sized bluegill on the popper.
