Notes

MCB, TMM, & BD:

The LJ was still a little bit higher and faster than what I like it to be, but I figured I would fish the Greer School section because there is a lot of shallow water in that section. I parked along the Greer property and crossed over the stream, walked down to the first RR bridge below Greer and fished back almost to the twp. bridge above Greer.

The current was strong enough that it was tough wading and I had to pick spots that I could run the spinner in without it going downstream too fast. I had a fairly good morning and caught 14 trout, all brownies. The difference between the trout I caught this morning and the ones I caught Monday on Spring was the size of the fish. Today's fish were bigger fish. The smallest trout I caught this morning was 9 inches in lenght and the longest was a nice 14 incher that happened to be the 14th. and final trout of the morning. I also caught a couple of 13's and 12's. I didn't catch any mini-trout, which may say something about natural reproduction on the LJ. This morning's fish were all nice colorful wild trout. I know they started out as stocked fingerlings, but all of these had been in the LJ for at least a couple of years. Although I don't know exactly what the growth rate of those finerlings is per year, but it probably depends a lot on the conditions found in the stream.

Tomorrow morning we are heading for Oil City and plan to be there until Saturday afternoon. We may not be here in time to count all the cars that are parked by the bridge on Saturday morning. Bernie will have to count them for us. I probably won't do much fishing next week because of all the other guys that will be fishing. Maybe I'll give the Stone a try and see if any of the stocked trout are left by the middle of next week. Diane will probably fish over at Kriedlers sometime next week.
