Notable Fish: 15 Time Caught: 11:00-1:00 Fish Depth: 1' - 3' Water Depth: 6' - 10' Retrieve: dead drift 3' under indicator with split shot Notes: The peacock herl midge that was productive the day before did nothing. Switched to a copper ZM with copper bead head and caught several within an hour. |

4 | 14" | #20 Black Parachute Trico |
Notable Fish: 15 Fish Depth: < 1' Water Depth: 6' - 10' Retrieve: dead drift Notes: Fly used was identical to the parachute trico without the tail. Most action was on surface although I had several fish on when I let the water-saturated fly sink under a strike indicator. |

Notes
Phenomenal midge hatch. Adults covered the snow banks and were so thick on the water that the foam in the back eddies appeared grey. Every several casts I would have to clean the natural adults, pupae and shucks from my fly. Wow.
There are some 20"+ rainbows in this hole.
The wind was horrendous by the end of the day. I may never get the feeling back in my fingertips.

That is excellent. I must have just missed you guys - I came back up to the big hole around 4:15. I didn't mean to stay down river so long - I ended up fishing the runs we fished last winter and caught lots of fish. Glad you and Eric did well up there - I wish one of us would have hooked into one of those monsters, though.

Yeah, I figured you were probably killing it downstream. 44 fish, not a bad day! :^)
I thought about heading downstream but once the fish started rising to the midges I couldn't pull myself away from the big hole.
