Notes
First time hauling a boat up anywhere with my new rig. Handled it with ease. Learned some essential tips when backing in a boat trailor. If you start to see the boat in one of your mirrors, turn to that mirror using small wheel turns. Shouldnt be a hassle from now on.
As for the boat, it was in great shape. Brian did a good job keeping it nice over the winter and the engine was a great shape. 5 pulls for the initial start, then one pull after that. I did have to replace the right tail light and when the boat was inspected at the launch the kid working there said I needed the paper registration in addition to the tags? I will have to remember to tell Brain this to make sure he has it.
Fishing was epic. Drove straight to the tree that is just past thepump house and anchored down. Within 10 minutes I had the first crappie on and it was on from there. I started off strong and eventualy Kelly and Jared learned the technique and depth. Started off about 10 yards away from the tree but eventually parked right by the tree so we could basically flip the jigs right off the side of the boat with no effort or skill to tuck it tight under the tree. No very sporty but since we were harvesting it didnt matter Crappie averaged 8 inces with some caught upwards of 10 inches to even 13. Few smallmouth but werent targeting them.
Spent 6 hours the next day filleting the crappie which yielded about 20 pounds of meat.
