Notes

Slow start. Both of us were using slip bobbers with panfish jigs. I was using a tandem setup with one jig/hook up the line 1 1/2 feet from the bottom jig. We started fishing in the northwest corner of the lake, but had no success.

I caught one 10" bluegill on a yellow and black hair jig with red head and tipped with a waxworm. This was the bottom jig. The time was about noon and we were fishing on the north side of the island in the center in about 7 feet of water.

We went in for lunch and returned to fishing at about 3 pm. We started on the south side of the lake near the western point. We worked our way east on the south shore, with no success.

We moved to the easternmost tip of the island on the northside. We were about 30-40 feet off shore. in about 6 feet of water. Stan caught fire and caught 8 fish in about an hour and a half. He caught 5 bass, 1 perch, and 2 bluegill all on his purple panfish jig. He was casting closer to shore but parallel to the island. His bobber was about 5 feet up and jig was near the bottom. I caught a 32" pike on a purple hair jig (bottom jig in tandem setup) in about 7-8 feet of water and a bass on a leaf worm (upper hook on tandem setup).

Definitely would recommend returning to that spot next year. Bass seem to be in prespawn mode already due to the unusually warm weather this year.
