Notes

MCB, TMM, & BD:

Decided to fish Spring this morning, mostly because I wanted to stop in Lemont and get William some track for his N gauge train. I was considering Penn, but then I figured I might as well fish where there is a good chance I'll catch a couple of fish.

Spring was really low, really slow, and crystal clear, although I have to admit I knew all of that before I went to fish it this morning. It was another cast and clean day and a tough day for spin fishing on Spring. I caught 17 trout, 15 brown and 2 rainbows. Those were the first rainbows I have caught in at least a month or so. The two rainbows were 13 inches and 11 inches. The 13 inch rainbow was the biggest fish I caught this morning. The browns were all in the 10-12 inch size range.

I walked back to the fly-fishing only wire and then fished to above the old hatchery ponds. The first 30 to 40 minutes I fished, I caught 8 or 9 trout and I thought I was going to have a big morning. Then I only caught 4 trout in the next two hours and finished with another 4 trout in the last 30 minutes or so.

I only saw one fly-guy fishing around the Paradise this morning and there was no one fishing at the parking area. That's a bit unusual, but it could be that most of the fly-guys are aware of the stream conditions and are passing on fishing Spring at this time. They are probably all fishing the LJ or at least it seemed that way yesterday.

I think I'm done fishing for this week. I have a couple of things to do tomorrow and Friday and then of course it's the big Michigan-PSU weekend.
