MCB, TMM, & BD:
Even though I knew I was probably going to break the Bob's Fun Rule ("If you aren't having fun, don't do it!"), I decided to fish the LJ this morning when the air temperature was in the 30's. I think I will have to think about it a bit longer the next time I get the urge to fish on a chilly morning. My hands were like ice cubes and that doesn't make for a great fishing morning.
I fished the LJ behind Petersburg because I knew it was low, slow, and clear again, so I wanted to fish it were there was more water in the stream. I didn't have a great morning. I only caught 11 trout, all brownies. I did catch one nice trout, a 16 inch brown, and the other ten were in the 10-12 inch size range.
I could fish later in the day, but then you usually run into more people fishing in the same area as you want to fish. As I was finishing up this morning, a couple of fly-guys were just starting to fish around the RR bridge at the end of Alllison Road. If the temperature is in the 40's in the mornings, I'm usually good to go, so I guess I'll just have to pick my days a little better. I think it's supposed to warm up a bit in the next few days, so maybe I'll get out again this week.
