Notes

USGS 13309220 MF SALMON RIVER AT MF LODGE NR YELLOW PINE ID
Got an early start and after a few stutters, headed downstream at parking lot. Went down to landing but way too crowded to fish. Went just upstream of landing and just wide flat water, not very prime area. Also went up by Dagger Falls hoping to fish down to landing but again, poor access and not great water.
Ended up hiking all the way down ~ mile + from usual spot.
The Fishing: Perfect water, maybe just a tad higher than usual. Threw everything - hardly a hit. Got a few good rises on MFS1 2015 at a nice pool but there were a TON on rafters floating thru that day and they killed the pool pretty quick. Spot fished on the way back but couldn't get the fish to rise. Went to the usual ploace below Sulfer but still no luck. Weird for a place usually teeming with Cutts smashing anything buggy.
The Weather: storm rolled in, got rained on along with a little SNOW - in July! Pretty serious thunder but never saw lightning. Had provisions but no cold-weather gear other than poncho. Wasn't a big safety or comfort issue but maybe put the fish down? But, like other barren sure-fire places this year maybe the extreme early heat got the water too warm.
