Notes

MCB, TMM, & BD:

I didn't get to fish yesterday because I went to Manheim to pick up a car for Huston Ford, so I fished today even though I usually don't fish on a Friday. I drove over to Barree and parked at the beginning of the Gorge trail. I got there about 7:00 and there was no one else there, but the stranger thing was that there still wasn't anyone there when I finished eating my lunch in the parking area around 12:00. Of course I was fishing fairly far back since I started at the second RR bridge above the parking area and fished until I was at the end of the rapids above the big island, so people could have come and gone while I was fishing and I wouldn't have know about it. I can't remember the last time that I fished that area and didn't see another vehicle in the parking lot coming or going. Maybe the summer rush is over! One can only hope.

I had a good morning. It was a really nice morning, low humidity, low temperatures, and not real windy. You almost couldn't ask for a better July morning to fish. I caught 18 fish, one smallmouth bass, one rock bass, one rainbow trout, and of course 15 brown trout. The biggest fish of the morning was the rainbow at 14.5 inches. The biggest brown was 13 inches, but I don't think I caught one brown trout less than 9 inches long. It wasn't the most trout that I have ever caught in that section in three hours, but it was still a fun morning. I decided on one more cast and lost my spinner on the last cast of the morning. I had been using that same spinner for about two weeks, so I guess it was due to get lost.
