Notes

MCB, TMM, & BD:

I fished the LJ this morning from Shoenbergers Bridge to the first RR bridge above it. That's the little township bridge that is close to the Huntingdon Furnace road. I got there at 7:00 and a fly-guy was already there and getting on his gear. He was way too slow and I was in the water for at least five minutes before he started to fish. I usually start below the bridge and fish up to the next RR bridge, but this morning I thought I would start above the little bridge and maybe the fly-guy would fish below the bridge. That's exactly what happened, so neither of us was a problem for the other. When I walked back to my truck, about 10:30 or so, he was still fishing around the bridge, but he had moved to the upstream side of the bridge.

The water conditions were a little surprising, at least to me this morning. The water was low and clear and the water temperature was 62 degrees. There are a lot of springs in this section and that's one of the reasons I wanted to fish it this morning. I caught 20 brown trout, the two biggest ones were 13 inches, and I also caught two 5 inch trout. I figure the 5 inchers were two of the fingerlings that we stocked in the LJ earlier in the season. Most of the trout I caught this morning were in the 8, 9, 10 inch range. It was still a great morning to be on the stream even if I didn't stir up any big trout.
